The Symposium will explore some of the themes of The Peckham Experiment exhibitions and projects, curated by Rachael House and Jo David. The Peckham Experiment exhibition is inspired by the original radical wellbeing and health study of the same name, which ran from 1926-1950. The first part of the exhibition is showing at Camberwell Space at Camberwell College of Art. The second part is at Space Station Sixty-Five. The symposium will become part of The Peckham Experiment publication, to be launched after the exhibition.

Morning session will be chaired by Ben Perry and includes-

Kit Poulson performance We're too lazy for the future, artists' panel including Gayle Chong Kwan, Nicholas Cobb, Dean Kenning, Annie Whiles and Jo David, discussion and questions from the floor and a closing session from Gayle Chong Kwan.
 
The symposium will finish at Camberwell Space with a glass of wine or juice and an opportunity to see part one of The Peckham Experiment exhibition.

The Theatres, Music Halls and Cinemas of the Old Kent Road.
Talk by Richard Norman. Richard is writing a book on the cinemas of south London. This is one of a quartet of talks. We have previously had Peckham and Camberwell, next year hopefully the Elephant and Castle.

All are welcome. This is a good way to join in The Peckham Society and meet other members and locals keen on local history and the modern day local world we live in.

There will be a meeting of the RLSAG on
WEDNESDAY 28th OCTOBER 2009
5.45pm light buffet & displays
6.15pm - 8.30pm meeting

Please email RLSAG@nutbrook.demon.co.uk to say if you can come, so we can get a view of numbers, and give you venue details.
Topics will be:
* reconstructing the station inside
* transforming the square in front and the area behind the station,
* how this fits in central Rye Lane, & the Council's PNAAP (Peckham Area Action Plan).

Come and hear from Southern Rail's architect the plans to rebuild the interior of the magnificent Peckham Rye station buildings, to make them accessible while preserving their historic beauty.
This is a really key meeting and we need a good number of local people to come to learn the latest and to take part in the discussion.
